What is the easiest way to connect 2 computers to transfer files? Flash drive won't work.?

Getting rid of older computer. Only operational drive is 3 1/2';. No internet available. Want to transfer pictures.What is the easiest way to connect 2 computers to transfer files? Flash drive won't work.?
Well I personally would just pull the hard drive from the first machine, install it in the second machine, copy what you need, and them reinstall it back in the first machine. The entire process should take you less than 20 minutes start to finish.

Other options available will depend on what hardware is in your 2 machines and what operating system they are running.





If you have network cards in them you could buy a cross over cable, assign them both an IP address, put them in the same workgroup, share the files, and transfer that way.





Without a network card your options become more limited. You start looking at a direct cable connection. This is usually pretty slow and somewhat finicky to set up depending on your OS.

1.If both the PCs have LAN card then best and easiest way would be to buy a cross cable and connect both of them


2. Second Option would be pull out the hard disk out of one and connect it to the second as secondary drive and work out
Do the two computers have Ethernet cards? If so, just connect them and create a small network.
I take work back and forth on flashdrives all the time. If you find out why you are unable to do so I would appreciate knowing why in case this happens to me in the future.
you can copy all the files from your old pc to 3 1/2 floppies and then in your new computer burn them onto a cd. I have done that and it works pretty good. Especially if you only have a 3 1/2 floppy in your old pc.

if the 2 computers are on windows xp you can use windows xp messenger that is a very fast way to transfer files you will both need to login your msn id's on the windows xp messenger





you will need a isp and internet conneciton for this to work a file of 27.6mb was transfer form pc to pc in 2 minute's check your internet speed/download/upload speed to make sure your isp server is not ripping you off if they say your getting 3.5 mb download speed and 2.4 upload speed make sure you are from the net speed test website

If both computers are in the same room you can use a ';patch cable'; to create a network. They can be picked up at just about any computer store. Looks like a standard Cat 5 network cable and plugs into the Network card of your computer.
Proibably the easiest answer is to remove the hard drive and put it in the new machine - then copy the files over.





Otherwise, only other way is if the old system has usb or serial connectors - could also use the parallel port, but you need special connectors for all the above.





Best bet install the drive on the new PC.
